Las columnas periodísticas sobre lengua constituyen un material valioso para el estudio de los usos y la norma del español actual. Por un lado, ofrecen información sobre variantes lingüísticas en alternancia y, por otro, transmiten el «imaginario lingüístico» de sus autores. En concreto, el estudio de las columnas publicadas por Magí Camps en el apartado «Letra pequeña» de La Vanguardia permite documentar usos vigentes del español de Cataluña así como soluciones normativas que tienen en cuenta el contraste entre dos lenguas en contacto, español y catalán. Su análisis permite además extraer los principios o «normas subjetivas» que sustentan las propuestas de Camps, autor de referencia en el ámbito de la corrección de textos periodísticos, responsable de la corrección lingüística de uno de los periódicos más leídos en Cataluña.
Newspaper columns about language constitute a useful type of material for the study of the uses and the norm of contemporary Spanish. On the one hand, they offer information on alternating linguistic variants and, on the other, they transmit the «linguistic imaginary» of their authors. In particular, the study of the columns published by Magi Camps in the «Letra pequeña» section of La Vanguardia allows us to document current uses of Spanish in Catalonia as well as some prescriptive solutions that take into account the contrast between two languages in contact, i.e. Spanish and Catalan. Their analysis also enables us to infer the principles or «subjective norms» that support the proposals by Camps, who is a referent in the field of the correction of journalistic texts and responsible for the linguistic correction of one of the most widely read newspapers in Catalonia.
