The present article delves into the study of free verse and, more particularly, of the odd free silva, one of the most characteristic forms of free verse in contemporary Spanish poetry. The metrical and rhythmic mechanisms that intervene in the structural configuration of José Agustín Goytisolo’s Taller de arquitectura are examined, a formally unitary text in which the poet projects his particular vision of architecture and urban planning. In the free silva, Goytisolo" finds his best expression of the conversational style. Through the use of enjambment and pause, or rhyme as an expressive resource, the poet achieves that ne balance between tradition and modernity that allows him to approach the narrative without having to renounce the rhythmic component of the verse.
