Based on the theoretical bases of Discourse Analysis and on the interface that we provide to Glotopolytics, this article brings considerations about the Brazilian subject/Spanish language relationship. From the survey of the historical processes related to the expansion of Spanish language in the 1990s, we analyze the way in which linguistic ideologies operate to break the language-culture link at the same time that the actions of linguistic policies developed in Brazil move in the direction of reinforcing this link. In our analysis we consider that this reinforcement occurs due to how the subjects/senses are configured in this process and due to how the pedagogical discourse on the Spanish language is constituted as an instrument of resistance to the Spanish tutelary roles that tend to flatten the language.
