En el siglo V se extingue el Imperio Romano de Occidente. El mundo islámico, sería la piedra angular de la civilización Occidental. Fueron traducidos al árabe las obras médicas de Galeno, Hipócrates, Dioscórides, etc. A partir de la mitad del siglo IX y X, empezaron a florecer los primeros médicos andalusíes. Las principales figuras médicas fueron Albucasis, Averroes y Maimónides.
In the 5th century the Western Roman Empire was extinguished. The Islamic world would be the cornerstone of Western civilization. The medical works of Galen, Hippocrates, Dioscorides, etc. were translated into Arabic. From the middle of the 9th and 10th centuries, the first Andalusian doctors began to flourish.
