Este artículo estudia las distintas denominaciones del maíz, sus partes, áreas geográficas y usos tradicionales en la provincia de Almería. Como en otros campos léxicos, se ponen de manifiesto las distintas influencias lingüísticas y etnográficas en esta tierra; de un lado, las comarcas occidentales conectan con otras hablas andaluzas; y de otro, la zona centro-oriental está vinculada al influjo del oriente peninsular (Murcia, E de La Mancha, Aragón, y parte de la Comunidad valenciana), que se incrementa conforme se avanza hacia el límite con la Comunidad murciana.
This article analyses different terms for corn, its parts, and traditional uses in the province of Almería. As in other lexical fields, various linguistic and ethnographic influences can be observed in this geographical area. On the one hand, western areas have connection with other Andalusian linguistic varieties; on the other hand, the central and eastern part of the province is greatly influenced (especially as you move eastwards) by Murcia and other eastern regions such as the east of Castilla La Mancha, Aragón, and part of the region of Valencia.
