La historiografía peruana no concede mayor espacio a la recepción de las obras de Alexis de Tocqueville en la historia social del republicanismo en siglo XIX peruano. Los estudios de historia conceptual, sin embargo, han permitido rescatar el rol de su obra fundamental, La Démocratie en Amérique, que habría jugado un rol decisivo en la interpretación social del régimen republicano, que va a evolucionar desde una semántica jacobina, centrada en un dispositivo aporético, a un lenguaje social articulado en torno de la idea de la asociación voluntaria.
Peruvian historiography does not give more space to the reception of the works of Alexis de Tocqueville in the social history of republicanism in the Peruvian 19th century. Studies of conceptual history, however, have made it possible to rescue the role of his fundamental work, La Démocratie en Amérique, which would have played a decisive role in the social interpretation of the republican regime, which will evolve from a Jacobin semantics, centered on a aporetic device, to a social language articulated around the idea of voluntary association.
