El objetivo de este artículo es estudiar cómo se utilizan las citas de la traducción de la Bi-blia que Casiodoro de Reina hizo en el Siglo de Oro -conocida como la Biblia del oso-, o de revisiones posteriores de la misma, en dos novelas contempo-ráneas: Libro de las memorias de las cosas (1971), de Jesús Fernández Santos, y El jinete polaco (1991), de Antonio Muñoz Molina. En este sentido, se trata de localizar las ediciones exactas de las que provienen las citas y determinar su grado de literalidad. Asi-mismo, se analizan las razones literarias y ficcionales que pueden estar detrás de la elección de una edi-ción determinada, así como la posibilidad de que la voluntad de estilo de los novelistas los haya llevado a no apegarse siempre al estricto texto bíblico
The main aim of this paper is to study how the quotations from the translation of the Bible that Casiodoro de Reina made in the Spanish Golden Age –known as the Bear Bible– or from later revisions of it, are used in two contemporary novels: The Book of Memoirs of Things (1971), by Jesús Fernández Santos, and The Polish Horseman (1991), by Antonio Muñoz Molina. In this sense, it is a matter of locating the exact editions from which the citations come and determining their degree of literality. Likewise, both the literary and fictional reasons that may be behind the choice of a certain edition are ana-lyzed, as well as the possibility that the novelists' writing style has led them not to always adhere to the strict biblical text
