This article aims to study the process of creation of the Antonio de Zamora’s opera Angélica y Medoro (1722) as a celebration of the wedding of Prince Luis de Bourbon. It will be essential to pay attention to the historical-political circumstances that motivated the piece and the symbolic dimension that some characters have in the plot. This process will make it possible to extract three meanings from the study of the baroque "occasionality": the need for a peaceful attitude and concord with the rest of the European kingdoms –especially with France—, avoiding the mistake of waging wars for personal interests (invasion of Sardinia and Sicily) and the desire for the good government of the future king (Louis I), based solely on love for his people and a sense of responsibility.
