El cine narrativo comercial utiliza, entre los escenarios necesarios para representar sus historias, lugares que van creando imágenes comunes que tienen un gran impacto social. La ciencia del paisaje, estudiada por la geografía moderna, ofrece conceptos y métodos que ayudan a entender la importancia cultural de la descripción de los paisajes por diferentes medios, literarios, pictóricos, fotográficos y cinematográficos. Los modernos estudios sobre medios de comunicación de masas ofrecen métodos de análisis de películas que pueden ayudar a valorar las características narrativas y formales de los filmes. El presente artículo trata de analizar la relación entre cine y paisaje, mostrando un modelo que incluye diferentes tipos de funciones narrativas que puede tener el paisaje urbano en el cine, exponiendo algunos ejemplos y ofreciendo una manera de estudiar esta relación que permita posteriores trabajos de investigación.
Narrative commercial films use places that create common images and have a great social impact, among the settings needed to represent their stories. Landscaping studies by modern geography, offer methods and concepts that help to understand the cultural importance of landscapes, using different means, such as literature, painting, photography and cinematography. Present mass-media studies offer film analysis methods that may be useful when evaluating narrative and formal aspects of films. The present paper aims to study the relationship between film and landscape, proposing a model composed by several types of narrative functions that urban landscapes play in films. It also includes some examples and provides a methodology of studying this relationship that will enable further research projects.
