On the basis of several studies on the subject, including those by Meo Zilio (1964, 1989) and Berruto (2006, 2009), the aim of this work is, firstly, to recover or renew, in the light of the new postulates of sociolinguistics, the characteristics of the cocoliche, a phenomenon that offers different aspects that have been little differentiated until now, and, secondly, to carry out a specific analysis of the cocoliche sample, according to the established criteria. The specific analysis of this sample will help to illustrate the defining features of one of the aforementioned strands: the interlinguistic mixing that takes place in the speaker's mother tongue as the host (matrix) language, which constitutes a very different phenomenon from the other strand: the interlanguage, the result of the interference that occurs in the foreign language as the host (matrix) language, which the speaker uses in that particular speech act.
