El reinado de Felipe V (1700-1746) fue un periodo de mucha agitación.
La Guerra de Sucesión, que no terminó hasta trece años después de su llegada al trono, explica en gran medida la inestabilidad a la que se enfrentó. Sin embargo, el reinado de Felipe V no fue como cualquier otro también por otra razón. El rey dejó en gran medida las riendas de España a tres mujeres: su primera esposa, María Luisa de Saboya, la primera dama de ésta Marie-Anne de la Trémoille -más conocida como Princesa de los Ursinos- y, más tarde, su segunda esposa, Isabel de Farnesio. Este estudio pretende analizar el estatus de estas tres mujeres de poder, la forma en que asumieron su protagonismo político y, sobre todo, cómo las retrataron los textos e imágenes de la época. ¿Qué revelan los testimonios oficiales y no oficiales sobre su posición de poder? ¿Qué representación intentaba transmitir la corona? ¿Se ajustan los periódicos, panfletos, poemas y grabados independientes a esta imagen oficial? Estas son algunas de las preguntas que este trabajo planteará e intentará responder.
The reign of Philip V (1700-1746) was a particularly troubled one. The War of Succession, which did not end until thirteen years after his accession to the throne, largely explains the instability he faced.
However, it was also for another reason that the reign of Philip V was not quite like the others. The king largely left the reins of Spain to three women: his first wife, María Luisa of Savoy, her first lady Marie-Anne de la Trémoille - better known as Princesse des Ursins - and, later on, his second wife, Elisabeth Farnese. This study aims to analyze the status of these three women of power, the way in which they assumed their leading political role and, above all, how the texts and images of the time portrayed them. What do official and unofficial testimonies reveal about their position of power? What representation was the crown trying to convey? Do independent newspapers, pamphlets, poems, and prints fit this official image? These are some of the questions that this work will raise and attempt to answer.
