This study presents the linguistic analysis of 30 historical documents from the corpus Documentos para la historia lingüística de Colombia ranged between the XVIth and XIXth centuries, in which persons identified as black slaves (or freed ones) are directly or indirectly involved. The study aims to focus on two topics of interest on the history of American varieties of Spanish: the exploration of the black slaves voices through the documental registry, and their place as a part of the evolution of American Spanish. The analysis of the documents reaches a partial linguistic characterization of the participants at the pronunciation level, along with the registry of some lexical and syntactical features.
