Menéndez Pelayo found in the poets of Galicia, Asturias, Montaña and León a moral kinship: the being "Dreamers and meditators". In this group he included the writer Escalante, who was, for the Santanderino, the most important poet of the Mountain in the second half of the 19th century. Finally, this Cantabrian regionalism would leave three key names: Amós de Escalante, Pereda and Menéndez Pelayo.
