El artículo examina la historiografía de Pedro de Madrazo (1816-1898) y su actividad como miembro de las tres Academias e importante intermediario cultural, como manifestaciones de la interpretación providencialista de la historia característica para el pensamiento neocatólico español de la segunda mitad del siglo XIX.
The article examines Pedro de Madrazo’s (1816-1898) historiography and his activities as a member of three Royal Academies and an important cultural mediator, as the manifestations of the Providentialist interpretation of history characteristic of Spanish neo-Catholic though of the second half of the nineteenth century.
