Esta necrología destaca la figura de Leopoldo Rodríguez Alcade, conocido sobre todo por sus críticas y traducciones y no tanto por su obra poética. Dejó a la ciudad de Santander su biblioteca de más de veinte mil libros y su colección pictórica a la Fundación Botín. Aquí se repasa su vida, desde su infancia como niño poeta y aficionado al teatro y el dibujo, hasta sus estudios superiores en Oviedo y sus publicaciones periodísticas. Sobre todo se hace hincapié en su trayectoria poética, algo olvidada pero bastante reseñable, además de sus conferencias y traducciones desde el francés, idioma que siempre le atrajo y que dominaba desde niño. Se lo recuerda en este boletín por ser un lector empedernido de don Marcelino Menéndez Pelayo y por admirar su biblioteca.
This necrology highlights the figure of Leopoldo Rodríguez Alcade, known above all for his criticism and translations and not so much for his poetic work. He left his library of more than twenty thousand books to the city of Santander and his pictorial collection to the Fundación Botín. Here we review his life, from his childhood as a child poet and fan of theater and drawing, to his higher studies in Oviedo and his journalistic publications. Above all, emphasis is placed on his poetic career, somewhat forgotten but quite remarkable, in addition to his conferences and translations from French, a language that he was always attracted to and that he had mastered since he was a child. He is remembered in this bulletin for being an inveterate reader of Don Marcelino Menéndez Pelayo and for admiring his library.
