Cuatro décadas más joven que Cervantes, Céspedes y Meneses recrea en El Desdén del Alameda una historia de amor que recuerda en sus motivos (violación, purgación, anagnórisis y desenlace feliz) a La fuerza de la sangre cervantina. Al mismo tiempo, nos ofrece una ejemplaridad claramente opuesta (frente al obligado matrimonio impuesto por las convenciones sociales y sin ningún arrepentimiento en LFS, asistimos a la asunción de la culpa y el cumplimiento de la palabra de esposo en EDA). Se trata, pues, de dos maneras de entender el mismo tema desde perspectivas distintas.
Four decades younger than Cervantes, Céspedes y Meneses reproduces in El Desdén del Alameda a love story that reminds in its motifs (rape, atonement, anagnorisis and happy ending) of Cervantes's work La fuerza de la sangre. At the same time, Céspedes y Meneses provides an altogether different lesson (instead of the forced marriage due to social conventions and without any repentance in LFS, we find the acceptance of the blame and the enforcement of the given word of marriage in EDA). So in the end, we have here two different points of view to confront the same idea.
