Las Dehesas de Sierra Morena (Andalucía) fueron declaradas en 2002 por el Programa MAB-UNESCO Reserva de la Biosfera.
Integradas principalmente por dehesas tradicionales, con pastizales, encinares, quejigares, rebollares y alcornocales, enriquecidos con bosques de castaños y en galería que recorren muchos de sus cauces fluviales. Su creación supuso otorgar el máximo reconocimiento a unos ecosistemas en los que se llevan a cabo actividades tradicionales agroganaderas, culturales y forestales, soporte de diversas industrias de transformación agrarias, al mismo tiempo que se conserva la biodiversidad del territorio.
The Dehesas of Sierra Morena (Andalusia) were declared in 2002 by the UNESCO-AB Program, Biosphere Reserve. Made up of traditional dehesas, with pastures, holm oaks, gall oaks, pyrenean oak and cork oaks, enriched with chestnut and gallery forests that run through many of its riverbeds. Its creation meant granting maximum recognition to ecosystems in which traditional agricultural, livestock, cultural and forestry activities are conducted, supporting various agricultural transformation industries, while conserving the biodiversity of the territory.
