Tanto dragón como loong son animales mitológicos muy importantes en la cultura occidental y oriental respectivamente, debido a factores históricos, tradicionalmente, se mezclan estos dos conceptos muy diferentes y se consideran que son dos animales iguales o parecidos. En la realidad, se trata de un error de traducción, y el loong chino tiene imagen positiva mientras que el dragón occidental es bastante negativo. Este hecho también se refleja en las unidades fraseológicas.
