Objeto del presente artículo es ilustrar la importancia de la vida y obra de San Juan de la Cruz en la literatura del poeta, novelista y autor teatral Antonio Montoro (1884-1966), autor cuya trayectoria literaria y periodística no se ha recuperado todavía con toda la atención que merece. En nuestro trabajo se procederá a comentar los diferentes escritos que Antonio Montoro redactó sobre el místico de Fontiveros, ofreciendo además amplios fragmentos textuales aún sin publicar, con el objetivo de estudiar el vínculo de las ideas literarias del autor con la gran tradición aurisecular española.
The aim of this article is to illustrate the importance of the life and work of San Juan de la Cruz in the literature of the poet, novelist and playwright Antonio Montoro (1884-1966), an author whose artistic figure has not yet been recovered with all the attention he deserves. In our work we will proceed to comment on the different writings that Montoro wrote about the mystic of Fontiveros, also offering extensive textual fragments still unpublished, with the aim of studying the link between Montoro’s literary ideas and the great Spanish Golden Age tradition.
