El propósito de este artículo es recordar la importancia de lo teatral en la vida y en la obra de Fernando Fernán-Gómez, insigne creador total que halló la esencia de todo su trabajo en la poesía dramática y que, por ello, procuró regarla, cuidarla y mimarla con esmero. A partir de una de sus más emblemáticas frases, tras una contextualización en la que quedan referidas sus principales obras dramáticas y una escueta inmersión en las claves esenciales del dramaturgo, la reflexión se centra en la preocupación por el presente y el futuro del teatro-teatro y la necesidad de su supervivencia adaptándose a los nuevos tiempos y –como poesía dramática– a las nuevas vías de la teatralización.
The purpose of this article is to recall the importance of the theatrical in the life and work of Fernando Fernán-Gómez, a distinguished total creator who found the essence of all his work in dramatic poetry and who, therefore, tried to water it, take care of it and pamper it with care. Based on one of his most emblematic phrases, after a contextualization in which his main dramatic works are referred to and a brief immersion in the essential keys of the playwright, the reflection focuses on the concern for the present and the future of theater-theater and the need for its survival by adapting to new times and -as dramatic poetry- to the new ways of dramatization.
