The aim of this didactic proposal is to expose the significant relevance of linguistic corpuses in the scope of applied linguistics, as in the field of teaching/learning a foreign language as well. Linguistic corpuses, being considered as systematized compendiums of verbal and written expressions in a given language, arranged within a database structure, play a substantial role in expanding the discernment that linguists acquire with respect to the functioning and intrinsic configuration of a language. In addition to their analytical dimension, these corpuses emerge as important didactic resources in a context of teaching and learning foreign languages, especially regarding those knowledges which are not explicitly included in the traditional teaching manuals of learning Spanish LE/L2. In this way, we propose a different approach based on the manipulation of linguistic corpuses of Spanish language in order to teach and acquire a better knowledge of phraseological units (PU), paying special attention to some somatism (SO). The designed activities in this framework are oriented to students of intermediate level (B2), due to the fact that the content in question and the necessary competence in the management of the corpuses can be complicated for beginner level students (A1-A2). All in all, it is hoped that, increasingly, LE/L2 Spanish teachers and students will be able to incorporate more frequently the linguistic corpora in their daily work to eventually facilitate the teaching/learning process of Spanish.
