El presente trabajo versa sobre los testamentos de ajusticiados en la literatura popular impresa española, un subgénero de literatura de patíbulo poco conocido hasta la fecha. Analizaremos diez testamentos estampados entre el siglo XVI y mediados del siglo XIX, cruzando fuentes periodísticas y de archivo, para, de este modo, poder indagar en sus posibles usos, divulgación/venta, composición y recepción.
This paper explores the wills of executed men in popular Spanish printed literature, which is a subgenre of gallows literature that has received little attention to date. We will analyze ten testaments that were printed between the 16th century and the mid-19th century, drawing on both journalistic and archival sources. Our goal is to investigate the possible uses of these wills, as well as their composition, dissemination, and reception.
