En este trabajo analizaremos algunos casos de censura y modificación ideológica en la Quinta Parte de la General Estoria de Alfonso X el Sabio. Comparando la obra con sus fuentes, se podrá comprobar cuándo la fidelidad habitual a las fuentes da paso a supresiones y modificaciones y cuándo éstas pueden haberse debido a censura, en aspectos como la verosimilitud de las fuentes, las ideas sobre la monarquía y el poder, la guerra y la derrota, sobre la religión, las relaciones sexuales… Pretendemos con ello analizar la obra alfonsí desde un punto de vista poco tratado hasta ahora.
The topic of this paper is the analysis of some examples of text changes that occured in the translation or adaptation of the sources of General Estoria Quinta Parte from Latin into Spanish due to ideological issues. We will compare the Spanish text and its sources in order to discover when the usual truth in translation gives way to modifications. These modifications are being explained with the request of the translators not to write anything down because it clashes with their ideas about monarchy, power, war, defeat and religion including different aspects of sexual life.
