El artículo analiza las relaciones y el apoyo que Pedro Calderón de la Barca confirió al linaje Fernández de Madrigal, perteneciente a la pequeña nobleza segoviano-salmantina, con el fin de promover su inserción en una corte inconstante afectada por las tensiones políticas en tiempos de Felipe IV y Carlos II. Se ha tratado de estudiar cómo, a través del sistema polisinodial de la monarquía, la obtención del prestigioso hábito de caballero de Santiago, la carrera eclesiástica y el mundo festivo cortesano, ambas familias fomentaron una ascensión social dinámica y colectiva caracterizada por la endogamia y las solidaridades. This article analyses the relations and support that Pedro Calderón de la Barca conferred on the Fernández de Madrigal lineage, belonging to the small Segovian-Salmantine nobility, in order to promote their insertion in a fickle court affected by political tensions in the times of Philip IV and Charles II. I have tried to study how, through the polisynodial system of the monarchy, the attainment of the prestigious habit of knighthood of Santiago, the ecclesiastical career and the festive courtly world, both families fostered a dynamic and collective social ascent charac-terised by endogamy and solidarities.
