Este artículo argumenta la autoría del Lazarillo de Tormes en favor del humanista conquense Juan de Valdés, apuntando la probable colaboración de su hermano gemelo Alfonso. Al tiempo, esboza una teoría sobre la génesis completa de la novela a lo largo de veintinueve años, desde su escritura, realizada en 1525, en Toledo, hasta su segunda reedición, en 1554. Asimismo, explica el anonimato de la obra; el año natal de los hermanos Valdés; la identidad del editor que convirtió el texto epistolar inicial en una novela convencional; la causa de las llamadas interpolaciones de Alcalá; localiza las casas principales donde pudo ser escrita la novela y muestra que el título está formado por un dístico de dos endecasílabos, lo que indica la existencia de un acróstico con el nombre del autor.
This article argues the authorship of Lazarillo de Tormes in favor of the humanist from Cuenca Juan de Valdés, pointing out the probable collaboration of his twin brother Alfonso. At the same time, it outlines a theory about the complete genesis of the novel over twenty-nine years, from its writing, carried out in 1525, in Toledo, until its second reissue, in 1554. Likewise, it explains the anonymity of the work; the birth year of the Valdés brothers; the identity of the editor who converted the initial epistolary text into a conventional novel; the cause of the so-called Alcalá interpolations; locates the main houses where the novel could have been written and shows that the title is formed by a couplet of two hendecasyllables, which indicates the existence of an acrostic with the author’s name.
