El presente artículo propone un abordaje interdisciplinario de la noción de signo lingüístico. Se parte de los debates semióticos sobre su apreciación dicotómica versus el respectivo planteamiento tricotómico. En relación a ello, se considera la premisa de la materialidad ―i. e., la dialéctica sujeto/objeto― esbozada por los Estudios de la Cultura Material. Asimismo, se discuten las nociones de pensamiento concreto y lógica de lo abstracto en conexión a las ideas sobre metáfora y mímesis. La propuesta anterior se servirá del análisis de la evidencia epigráfica correspondiente a los sistemas de escritura empleados por las sociedades antiguas de Egipto y Mesopotamia.
This article proposes an interdisciplinary approach to the notion of the linguistic sign. It starts from the semiotic debates on the dichotomous versus the trichotomous approach to it. In this respect, the premise of materiality ―i. e. the subject/object dialectic― outlined by Material Culture Studies is considered. Furthermore, the notions of concrete thinking and the logic of the abstract are discussed in connection with the ideas of metaphor and mimesis. The above proposal will be based on the analysis of epigraphic evidence corresponding to the writing systems used by the ancient societies of Egypt and Mesopotamia.
