  Este artículo se enfoca en dos aspectos de la carrera profesional de la crítica literaria argentina Ana María Barrenechea. Por un lado, explora sus libros sobre ficciones argentinas y latinoamericanas. Por otro lado, estudia la trayectoria institucional de Barrenechea en universidades e institutos de investigación.

  En sus libros, Barrenechea funda una crítica textual que dialoga con las obras en vez de apropiarse de ellas, generando una lectura principalmente formalista. Al mismo tiempo, sus libros y ensayos se articulan con el pensamiento latinoamericanista. Ella toma una posición crítica y teórica frente a la hegemonía del pensamiento europeo sobre la literatura. El artículo destaca dos aportes fundamentales de su obra crítica (por un lado, la introducción de la teoría literaria para pensar la literatura y, por otro, su posicionamiento crítico frente a los modelos hegemónicos de esa misma teoría) Por último, el artículo estudia la figura de Barrenechea como una de las pioneras también en cuestiones de género. Fue una de las primeras críticas literarias de América Latina.

  This article focuses on two aspects of the professional career of the Argentine literary critic Ana María Barrenechea. On the one hand, the article explores her books on Argentine and Latin American fiction. On the other hand, it studies the institutional trajectory of Barrenechea in universities and research institutes.

  In her books, Barrenechea founds a textual criticism that dialogues with the works instead of appropriating them, generating a mainly formalist reading. At the same time, her books and essays are articulated with Latin American thought. She takes a critical and theoretical position against the hegemony of European thought over literature. The article highlights two fundamental contributions of her critical work (on the one hand, the introduction of literary theory to think about literature and, on the other, her critical approach against the hegemonic models of that theory).

  Finally, the article studies the figure of Barrenechea as one of the pioneers also in gender issues. She was one of the first literary critics in Latin America.
