Editor writings are a sub-genre that has developed profusely since the second half of the twentieth century, especially after the globalization of the book market in the 1990s and the progressive disappearance of the figure of the independent editor. This study is part of such starting hypothesis and focuses on the editor Constantino Bértolo and his decade of work at the head of the independent publishing Caballo de Troya. The sociological and theoretical method developed in this research is called cross-reading and the objectives set are twofold: firstly, to unravel the poetics of publishing of Constantino Bértolo, by distantly reading the catalogue of Caballo de Troya, while describing his independent publishing work, marked by the postulates of Marxism and the Avant-Garde. Secondly, the poetics of editor are addressed, by closely reading the narrative that forms the backbone of his two best essays on the subject, La cena de los notables (2008) and Una poética editorial (2022), from which the editor is perceived as an author, as a critic and as a field. Finally, there is a reflection on the loss of autonomy of the literary and the disappearance of the literary field.
