En el curso 2010/2011 se iniciaba en la Facultad de Formación del Profesorado de la Universidad de Extremadura la puesta en marcha de un Máster de Formación en portugués para profesores de Primaria y Secundaria que venía a completar la oferta académica de los alumnos de Magisterio que quisieran realizar estudios de portugués. Nos propusimos celebrar un curso internacional de verano en el que se dieran cita aquellas instituciones que estaban trabajando en la enseñanza del español y del portugués en la recientemente creada Eurorregión de la EUROACE, con el siguiente título: “La enseñanza del español y del portugués en la EUROACE (Eurorregión Alentejo, Centro, Extremadura)”, que se desarrolló en Cáceres los días 6, 7 y 8 de julio de 2011, merced al apoyo del Gabinete de Iniciativas Transfronterizas de la Junta de Extremadura. El objetivo principal que nos marcamos era realizar un encuentro sobre el estado de la cuestión acerca de la enseñanza del español en el Alentejo y la enseñanza del portugués en Extremadura.
¿Qué ocurre entonces?, ¿por qué en Alentejo y Región Centro parece que ha habido más respuesta por parte de los alumnos?,¿por qué en Extremadura, pese a la esta infraestructura montada y las iniciativas legislativas, no acaba de tomar cuerpo la implantación del portugués como segunda lengua?,¿cuál es el actual estado de la situación tanto en la enseñanza reglada como en la no reglada en una y otra parte de la frontera?, ¿cuál es el punto de vista de las principales instituciones involucradas en este asunto?, ¿cuáles han sido las iniciativas?, ¿cuáles los éxitos?, ¿cuáles los fracasos?, ¿cuál será el futuro inmediato y el de a medio plazo? Estas son algunas de las preguntas por las que decidimos intentar organizar este curso de verano y a las que, al menos en parte, esperamos dar respuesta o debatir sobre ellas en las siguientes páginas.
In the 2010/2011 academic year, the Faculty of Teacher Training of the University of Extremadura began the implementation of a Master's Degree in Training in Portuguese for Primary and Secondary teachers, which completed the academic offer of Teacher Training students who wanted to study Portuguese. We proposed to hold an international summer course that would bring together those institutions that were working on the teaching of Spanish and Portuguese in the recently created Euroregion of EUROACE, with the following title: "The teaching of Spanish and Portuguese in the EUROACE (Euroregion Alentejo, Centro, Extremadura)", which took place in Cáceres on 6, 7 and 8 July 2011, thanks to the support of the Cabinet of Cross-Border Initiatives of the Regional Government of Extremadura. The main objective we set ourselves was to hold a meeting on the state of the art about the teaching of Spanish in the Alentejo and the teaching of Portuguese in Extremadura.
Why does it seem that in Alentejo and the Central Region there has been more response from students?, Why in Extremadura, despite the infrastructure set up and the legislative initiatives, the implementation of Portuguese as a second language has not yet taken shape?, What is the current state of the situation in both formal and non-regulated education on both sides of the border?, What is the point of view of the main institutions involved in this matter, what have been the initiatives, what have been the successes, what the failures are, what will be the immediate future and the medium-term? These are some of the questions why we decided to try to organize this summer course and to which, at least in part, we hope to answer or discuss them in the following pages.
