In this work, we delve into the importance of Valencia after its entry into the EU, such as the neuralgic commercial value of the Port of Valencia. We also highlight two of the European distinctions awarded to the city as Capital of Smart Tourism and European Green Capital 2024, as well as the inclusion of several natural areas of our Community in the Natura 2000 Network for the protection of biodiversity. We will conclude with the crucial role of Valencia in the development of the university and the Europeanist thinking that are currently translated into European initiatives of education for youth such as the European Solidarity Corps or the Erasmus Scholarships.
En este trabajo nos adentramos en la importancia adquirida por Valencia tras su entrada en la UE como, por ejemplo, el valor comercial neurálgico del Puerto de Valencia. Asimismo, destacamos dos de los reconocimientos europeos otorgados a la ciudad como Capital del Turismo Inteligente y como Capital Verde Europea 2024, así como la inclusión de varias áreas naturales de nuestra Comunidad en la Red Natura 2000 para la protección de la biodiversidad. Concluiremos con el papel fundamental de Valencia en el desarrollo de la universidad y el pensamiento europeísta que se traducen en la actualidad en iniciativas europeas de educación para la juventud como el Cuerpo Europeo de Solidaridad o las Becas Erasmus.
