La metáfora del buen pastor ha sido desarrollada desde las primeras civilizaciones históricas de la Antigüedad. En la Edad Media la metáfora del buen pastor se utilizó de muy diversas formas, siendo quizá la más destacada su vinculación con el poder regio. En cambio, en las primeras décadas del siglo XVI la metáfora del buen pastor se conectó con las necesidades políticas y dinásticas de los reyes de ese momento. Después del Concilio de Trento la metáfora del buen pastor se desarrolló en función de las exigencias de la disciplina social católica
The metaphor of the good shepherd has been developed since the first historical civilizations of Antiquity. In the Middle Ages the metaphor of the good shepherd was used in many different ways, perhaps the most notable being its connection with regional power. On the other hand, in the first decades of the 16th century the metaphor of the good shepherd was connected to the political and dy-nastic needs of the kings of that time.
