El propósito de este trabajo es abordar el estudio de la obra literaria de Eugenio F. Granell producida durante su etapa en el exilio tras la Guerra Civil española, atendiendo a la imagen de América que el autor presenta en su narrativa. Con este objetivo, se analizará la subversión de las fronteras entre civilización y barbarie respecto de la visión de Europa e Hispanoamérica en Isla cofre mítico y La novela del Indio Tupinamba, considerando tanto la experiencia vital propia del autor como su adhesión al movimiento surrealista. Se estudiará entonces la concepción escritural del espacio que se desprende de los textos, en tanto cruce de símbolo y materialidad ―Lefebvre―, para tratar de examinar la revisión del concepto de lo americano que propone Granell a través de la disolución de fronteras tanto territoriales como artísticas, considerando siempre un valor superior al que apuntar: la libertad.
The aim of this paper is to study the literary work of Eugenio F. Granell produced during his time in exile after the Spanish Civil War, focusing on the image of America that the author presents in his narrative. To this end, it Will be analysed the subversion of borders between civilisation and barbarism with respect to the vision of Europe and Latin America in Isla cofre mítico and La novela del Indio Tupinamba, considering both the author's own life experience and his adherence to the surrealist movement. We will then study the scriptural conception of space that emerges from the texts, as a cross between symbol and materiality ―Lefebvre―, in an attempt to examine Granell's revision of the concept of the American through the dissolution of both territorial and artistic borders, always considering a higher value to aim for: freedom.
