El Caudillo de las manos rojas, de Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer, es el relato de temática oriental más extenso y complejo de los que escribió. Su transmisión textual ha sido muy compleja y todavía no se ha resuelto por completo. En este ensayo se da noticia de dos nuevas ediciones en la prensa, que contribuyen sustancialmente a la fijación de su cronología y a determinar sus variantes textuales. Por otro lado, se ofrece una aproximación a la serie de literatura neorientalista en que debe insertarse.
The Leader with Red Hands, by Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer, is the longest and most complex story with an oriental theme that he wrote. Its textual transmission has been very complicated and has not yet been fully resolved. This paper reports on two new editions in the press, which contributesubstantially to establishing its chronology and determining its textual variants. On the other hand, an approach to the series of neo-Orientalist literature in which it should be inserted is offered.
