En este breve trabajo quiero exponer un complejo caso de edición para el escrito senecano sobre la providencia, donde el título contribuye a entender la cosmovisión estoica respecto de esta entidad como reinante del mundo. Asimismo, el contraste con otras fuentes que refuerzanuna variante consignada en los manuscritos recentiores del texto es fundamental en vista de re-construir con mayor precisión el escenario cosmológico que Séneca admitía, así como de preferiruna lección más apropiada para el inicio del escrito frente a la versión habitualmente editada, cuya autoridad se basa en el manuscrito más antiguo conservado de los dialogisenecanos.
This brief paper presents a complex case of the editing of the Senecan writings on Providence. The title helps to understand the Stoic worldview about this entity as a ruler of the universe. Li-kewise, it is essential to contrast other sources that consolidate a reading of the text transmitted in most recent manuscripts with the aim of building the cosmological framework accepted by Seneca with greater precision. Furthermore, the paper advocates for a more appropriate lesson for the beginning of the text in contrast with the usually edited version, whose authority is based on the oldest surviving codex of the Senecan dialogi.
