Actitudes Lingüísticas y Percepción de Amenaza Lingüística: Perspectivas sobre su Impacto en la Sensibilidad Intercultural en el Contexto Catalán

    Cataluña, un territorio bilingüe, se encuentra ante el reto de equilibrar la promoción de su lengua regional con la integración de una población culturalmente diversa. La siguiente investigación presenta un análisis cuantitativo sobre la relación entre las actitudes lingüísticas hacia el catalán y castellano, la amenaza lingüística percibida de ambas lenguas y la sensibilidad intercultural de los residentes en Cataluña. A partir de una muestra de 393 participantes residentes en Cataluña se realizó un análisis Path atendiendo a efectos directos e indirectos. Los resultados muestran que el hecho de promover actitudes positivas hacia el catalán no perjudica directamente la sensibilidad intercultural; sin embargo, el efecto mediador de la amenaza lingüística percibida puede reducir la apertura a la diversidad cultural. En consecuencia, las políticas lingüísticas deben tratar de equilibrar la promoción de las lenguas regionales y la integración de la diversidad cultural para fomentar la cohesión social en Cataluña.

    Catalonia, a bilingual territory, faces the challenge of balancing the promotion of its regional language with the integration of a culturally diverse population. The following research presents a quantitative analysis of the relationship between linguistic attitudes towards Catalan and Spanish, the perceived linguistic threat of both languages and the intercultural sensitivity of Catalan residents. Based on a sample of 393 participants living in Catalonia, a Path analysis was performed, taking into accountdirect and indirect effects. The results show that promoting positive attitudes towards Catalan does not directly harm intercultural sensitivity; however, the mediating effect of perceived linguistic threat may reduce openness to cultural diversity. Language policies should therefore seek to balance the promotion of regional languages and the integration of cultural diversity in order to foster social cohesion in Catalonia.
