La penuria de la posguerra condicionó a los niños de la época que ansiaban ser artistas, pues comúnmente sus maestros reorientaron la vocación innata del educando por derroteros más solventes que los inciertos caminos del arte. Tal fue el caso de Juan Hidalgo del Moral, quien, amando apasionadamente la pintura, fue inducido a abrazar la docencia. Su sentido del deber le llevó a la enseñanza profesional del dibujo, aunque nunca dejó de pintar.
Muestra elocuente de sus logros en el campo pictórico es el ramillete de retratos de su etapa de madurez que presentamos aquí.
The post-war hardship conditioned the children of that time who longed to be artists, since their teachers commonly redirected the innate vocation of these students along more solvent paths than the uncertain paths of art. Such was the case of Juan Hidalgo del Moral, who, passionately loving painting, was induced to embrace teaching. His sense of duty led him to professional teaching of drawing, although he never stopped painting. An eloquent example ofhis achievements in the pictorial field is this collection of portraits from his years of maturity that we present here.
