En este artículo analizaré las llamadas «coplas sentenciosas» recogidas en el Cancionero folklórico de México, mismas que constituyen una especie de conocimiento seudofilosófico, enunciado a través de recursos líricos como metáforas y sentencias. Asimismo, a partir de sus elementos con los que se construyen, estas coplas pueden dividirse en: 1. Coplas que muestran estereotipos (el valiente y agresivo costeño, la mujer traicionera, la madre amorosa y el indio mañoso), las cuales, en general, se forman a través de comparaciones. 2. Coplas que tocan temas universales (el sufrimiento, el pasado, el amor, etcétera). Estas últimas se dividen de acuerdo con los recursos literarios que emplean: a) coplas con refrán y b) coplas con metáfora. 3. Coplas que contienen un consejo.
In this article I will analyze the so-called «sententious couplets» collected in the Cancionero folklórico de México, which constitute a kind of pseudo-philosophical knowledge, enunciated through lyrical resources such as metaphors and sentences. Likewise, based on the elements with which they are constructed, these couplets can be divided into: 1. Coplas that show stereotypes (the brave and aggressive coastal man, the treacherous woman, the loving mother and the crafty Indian), which, in general, are formed through comparisons. 2. Couplets that touch on universal themes (suffering, the past, love, etc.). The latter are divided according to the literary devices they use: a) couplets with a proverb and b) couplets with metaphor. 3. Couplets that contain advice.
