Usando tres niveles de la cuadriga medieval, defiendo que la historia central de Calisto y Melibea es, a nivel alegórico, una recreación del mito de Adán y Eva; que a nivel tropológico, la obra tiene un doble carácter moralizante: preventivo,hacia los jóvenes de la nobleza, y regenerativo, hacia todos los pecadores del mundo; y a nivel anagógico demuestro, basado en la literatura y la teología cristianas, que es muy probable que Calisto y Melibea se hayan reunido en el Purgatorio, para continuar su amor más allá de la muerte.
Using three levels of the medieval quadriga, I argue that the central story of Calisto and Melibea is, on an allegorical level, a recreation of the myth of Adam and Eve; that on a tropological level, this work has a double moralizing character: preventive, towards the young people of the nobility, and regenerative, towards all sinners of the world; and on an anagogical level I demonstrate, based on Christian literature and theology, that it is highly probable that Calisto and Melibea have met in Purgatory, to continue their love beyond death.
