Las corridas de toros, tal como hoy las conocemos, son un espectáculo relativamente nuevo. Surgieron durante la Edad Moderna (siglos XVI-XVIII) y como evolución de las corridas caballerescas, juegos taurinos permitidos a la aristocracia española como ejercicio y práctica para el combate militar. Fue el abandono de la nobleza por este tipo de espectáculo y el gusto de las clases populares, lo que permitió el nacimiento de la tauromaquia actual, a la vez que se desaparecía el Antiguo Régimen. En todo ello Córdoba y el mundo del Derecho tuvieron un protagonismo singular.
Bullfighting, as we know it today, is a relatively new spectacle.
They emerged during the Modern Age (16th-18th centuries) and as an evolution of chivalric bullfights, bullfighting games allowed to the Spanish aristocracy as exercise and practice for military combat. It was the abandonment of the nobility for this type of spectacle and the taste of the popular classes, which allowed the birth of current bullfighting, at the same time that the Old Regime disappeared. In all of this, Córdoba and the world of Law had a singular role.
