Si bien el dandismo es un fenómeno social, también es evidente su conexión con la literatura, hasta el punto de que podemos hablar de escritores dandis cuyo estilo es la expresión literaria de su dandismo. El propósito de este artículo es reivindicar la figura de Ramón Rodríguez Correa como dandi literario. Para ello se esboza una breve semblanza de la personalidad del autor, refiriendo los rasgos que podrían hacerle candidato a obtener dicha denominación y, a continuación, se procede al análisis de El premio gordo (1884), una de sus novelas cortas, señalando las características que constituyen el dandismo como un estilo literario y que se hallan presentes en dicha obra.
Although dandyism is a social phenomenon, it is also evidently connected with literature, to the extent that we can talk about dandy writers whose style is the literary expression of their dandyism. The purpose of this article is to vindicate the figure of Ramón Rodríguez Correa as a literary dandy. For this purpose, a portrait of the author is outlined, emphasising the traits that make him a suitable candidate to receive the name ‘dandy’. An analysis of El premio gordo (1884), one of his short novels, follows, pointing out the characteristics that define dandyism as a literary style and which are present in this work.
