La confraria de Sant Narcís de Girona, dins la col·legiata de Sant Feliu, va ser l’associació laica més popular, prestigiosa i dinàmica de l’època moderna de la ciutat. La fama del sant incorrupte va traspassar els límits de la ciutat, i va comptar, per primera vegada, amb la participació d’homes i dones —confrares i confraresses— d’arreu del bisbat. Va desenvolupar les activitats pròpies de tota confraria, per exemple, l’assistència als confrares més pobres o a les seves vídues, en els moments finals de la seva vida o encarregant-se dels enterraments dels mesells de l’hospital de Sant Llàtzer. Però també va dedicar molts esforços a les activitats festives patronals i de promoció artística de la seva capella i del sant patró, invertint grans sumes en cera, teixits, pintura i orfebreria
