This article presents the result of analysing with spectral photography the autograph manuscript of Lope de Vega’s El castigo sin venganza. The images reveal that Pedro de Vargas Machuca intervened directly in the changes that Lope de Vega made in the final part of the play. The contribution provides information about the authorship and the order of these interventions, while also proposing new hypothesis about the purpose of those changes.
