Among the poetic lines that have emerged in the last decades in the Spanish cultural fi eld, a heterogeneous group of voices that overcome the nihilism of the postmodern condition, to demand from poetry a critical role against the injustices of present, has been increasingly calling attention. Their relevance is not insignifi cant, especially if we take into account a part of what was until recent times the hegemonic paradigm and has been called “poetry of experience”. Taking as starting point some still operative trends of fi gurative poetry, this article tries to outline an elementary cartography of poetic engagement from the consolidation of our democracy to the edge of the new millennium. The different formulas of dirty realism, or the expressions of a new political poetry that claims without complexes a project of transformation of the world —from the libertarian avant-garde to the antipoetic hyperrealism— are some of the ways that fall into the nihilist rebellion and the bewildered inquisition of the uninhabited poets, already under the auspices of the “2000 effect”.
