Una conducta vituperable fundamentada en una concepción de la mentira acorde a la filosofía moral del siglo XVII, que emanaba de Aristóteles, san Agustín y santo Tomás. El dramaturgo novohispano construyó un verdadero contraejemplo en la figura de don García, un aviso contra la relajación moral de su tiempo, que por supuesto no quedaría sin castigo.
