El presente artículo analiza el diario y la epístola en El monstruo pentápodo, de Liliana Blum, como dos modalidades discursivas que estructuran la identidad psíquica del personaje en esta novela. Tanto el diario como la epístola integran la focalización narrativa interna, articulándose de forma estructural como una psiconarración y un monólogo narrado, respectivamente. De esta manera, es posible ver cómo en el diario se conforma un tipo de omnisciencia propiciada por la perspectiva memorística (la remembranza), mientras que en las cartas se emplean como un mecanismo de autocomunicación (aun cuando se escriben para un interlocutor), en las cuales la protagonista se reconoce a través de la confesión y la culpa.
This article analyzes the diary and epistle in El monstruo pentápodo, by Liliana Blum, as two discursive modalities that structure the psychic identity of the character in this novel. Both the diary and the epistle integrate the internal narrative focus, being articulated structurally as a psychonarration and a narrated monologue, respectively. In this way, it is possible to see how in the diary a type of omniscience fostered by the memory perspective (remebrance), while in the letters they are used as a mechanism of self-communication (even when they are written for an interlocutor), in which the protagonist recognizes herself through confession and guilt.
