  • Abstract Linguistic historicization is a screenwriting technique in which movie scripts are shaped into a “historical” appearance form for historical movie scenes. However, little is known so far about techniques, linguistic sources, and finally working conditions of screenwriters of how linguistic historicization is made. This means a cultural-linguistic point of view in which research into linguistic historicization in movie scripts needs to take different practitioner-related perspectives into consideration. Accordingly, this short forum piece delineates the methodological possibilities of how the historicization of scriptwriting can be investigated by linguists by presenting text-based and non-text-based methods.
