Este trabajo analiza la presencia de la garza en la literatura medieval. Se realiza un recorrido diacrónico desde Disciplina clericalis, Calila e Dimna, Poridat de poridades o las Cantigas de Alfonso X y, luego, se detiene en la figura de Inés de Castro, “la del Cuello de Garza”, pareja de Pedro I de Portugal y protagonista de muchos romances castellanos. Estudia, a continuación, esta bella ave en el Libro de Buen Amor, especialmente en los episodios de D.ª Endrina y de D.ª Garoça. Y concluye con la “Garza Montesina”, bello poema de Juan del Enzina y nombre de un personaje de la Lozana andaluza.
This paper analyses the presence of the heron in medieval literature. A diachronic journey is made from Disciplina clericalis, Calila e Dimna, Poridat de poridades or the Cantigas de Alfonso X and, then, it stops at the figure of Inés de Castro, ‘the one with the Heron's Neck’, partner of Pedro I of Portugal and protagonist of many Castilian romances. He then studies this beautiful bird in the Libro de Buen Amor, especially in the episodes of D.ª Endrina and D.ª Garoça.
