In the tradition of Moreno and Swales (2018), this paper presents the creationof a manually annotated resource for supporting teaching English for LegalPurposes (ELP) and for Natural Language Processing (NLP) purposes. Afterjustifying the use of Supreme Court of the United States opinions, we define ourcoding scheme by adapting the move model of rhetorical structure in specializeddiscourse. We describe the methodology and the implementation of theannotation campaign. We analyze how our methodology and the resultingannotation scheme diverge from those described in the literature as well as theadvantages that these divergences afford. In addition to the research article, werelease several supplementary materials which aim to make the processtransparent and serve other researchers aiming to annotate specialized discoursewith the help of machine learning techniques
Dans la lignée de Moreno et Swales (2018), cet article présente la création d’uneressource annotée manuellement pour soutenir l’enseignement de l’anglaisjuridique et le traitement automatique des langues. Après avoir justifié l’utilisation des opinions la Cour suprême des États-Unis, nous définissons notre schémad’annotation en adaptant le modèle de Swales (2004) au discours juridique. Nousdécrivons la méthodologie et la mise en œuvre de la campagne d’annotation.Nous analysons les contributions spécifiques de notre méthodologie et duschéma d’annotation correspondant par rapport aux cadres méthodologiquesexistants et décrits dans la littérature. En parallèle de l’article de recherche, nouspublions plusieurs documents supplémentaires qui visent à accroitre latransparence de notre méthodologie. Ces documents pourront être utiles àd’autres chercheurs souhaitant annoter des discours spécialisés avec le concoursde techniques informatiques d’apprentissage automatique.
