Partiendo del supuesto de que el tratamiento de la enfermedad ocupa un lugar estructural en la obra de Juan José Millás, el objetivo de este artículo es analizar La vida a ratas (2019) desde la intersección entre drogas y drogas. Dimensiones que producen en la narrativa de este autor un punto de inflexión que hace que el texto se presente en forma de diario. Este punto de inflexión es lo que nuestro trabajo busca interrogar. Sostengamos que en La vida a ratas asistimos a una particular modulación de la escritura millaseana, que tiene un lugar en el cruce entre medicamentos y medicinas, y se manifiesta debajo de la figura de la dosis de escritura. Tal figura sintetiza la fragmentación y contracción narrativa que La vida a ratas retrata como novela, al tiempo que expone cómo el texto adopta un funcionamiento farmacológico que, desde el principio, le permite a Millás un nuevo tipo de exploración formal.
Based on the assumption that the treatment of illness has a structural place in the work of Juan José Millás, the aim of this article is to analyze La vida a ratos (2019) from the intersection between old age and drugs. Dimensions that produce in the narrative of this author a point of inflection that makes the text present itself in the form of a diary. This point of inflection is what our work wants to interrogate. We maintain that in La vida a ratos we can see a particular modulation of millasean writing, which takes place at the crossroads between old age and drugs, and manifests itself under the figure of the scriptural dose. This figure synthesizes the narrative fragmentation and contraction that La vida a ratos brings as a novelty. At the same time, it exposes how the text adopts a pharmacological functioning that, from the question of old age, enables Millás a new type of formal exploration.
