Los autores revisan las investigaciones en torno a cómic y educación para seguidamente concentrar su atención en las relaciones entre cómic, literatura infantil y juvenil y educación literaria. El análisis desvela la existencia de concomitancias entre cómic y literatura infantil y juvenil en cuanto a los prejuicios que han pesado sobre ambos y han condicionado tanto su recepción como su consideración como objeto de estudio. Asimismo, los autores exploran la función del cómic en la educación literaria y desvelan su papel clave como lectura multimodal en la formación de lectores críticos y en la ampliación de fronteras del canon literario de aula. Finalmente, apuntan la necesidad de la formación de docentes en el lenguaje del cómic para poder seleccionar obras de calidad e incorporar su potencial metodológico a su programación.
The authors review research on comics and education, then focus their attention on the relationships between comics, children's and young adult literature, and literary education. The analysis reveals the existence of similarities between comics and children's and young adult literature in terms of the prejudices that have weighed on both and conditioned both their reception and their consideration as objects of study. The authors also explore the function of comics in literary education and reveal their key role as multimodal reading in the formation of critical readers and in expanding the boundaries of the literary canon in the classroom. Finally, they point to the need for teacher training in the language of comics in order to select quality works and incorporate their methodological potential into their programming.
